PUG Members Vote to Transition to Visual Communications Industry Group

Vote finalized on January 4, 2010

Minneapolis, Minn. – January 5, 2010 As of January 4, 2010 Polycom User Group (PUG) members voted to accept the following changes and evolve into the Visual Communications Industry Group (VCI-Group). In keeping with that decision, the website and all other communications vehicles will begin transitioning to this new identity in the first quarter of 2010.

  • Change in focus and vision of The Group

The Group will become an unaligned organization where all resellers, integrators and manufacturers will be eligible to become Members and actively participate.

The Board believes that the majority of the Members operate in a mixed brands environment. Under this new format they will have better access to the products, information and showcases they need.

  • Change in Membership Composition

Under our previous Bylaws, The Board  was composed uniquely of Principal Members (Users). The updated Bylaws allow for a  limited number of Alliance Members (resellers, integrators, manufacturers) within the decision-making body responsible for managing the Business of The Group.  It is believed that by granting a wider role to our Alliance Members, a correspondingly deeper commitment and expertise will result.

This is a critical but exhilarating time for our Industry. As we stand at the threshold of profound events and changes, The Board is excited to move forward in a direction that will be of significant benefit to the Membership as a whole.
